Hamilton Elementary

 In In the School System

Nestled just east of Roscoe Village, this hidden gem was once slated for closure. Principal James Gray turned around this hurting learning environment with his passion for seeing all children learn. In the 8 years under his leadership, Hamilton has grown to be a leader in one of the most valuable philosophies in education, INCLUSION!

Teachers at Hamilton are recognized as district leaders in inclusion practices and are often asked to share their knowledge with other educators throughout Chicago Public Schools. Children at Hamilton are accepted for their unique learning styles and needs, as staff work within the least restrictive environment in mind for children with disabilities. Classrooms are equipped with the technology and tools that support the diversity that learns within. Perhaps most valuable, is the energy and feeling of genuine acceptance among learners at Hamilton; it is part of the culture.
